In this post, I’m sharing seven different wood-inspired desk setups, so get ready to be inspired!
I’ve also got several ideas and accessories to help you seamlessly add wooden elements to your space.
But first, why wood?
Wood is a great way to “bring the outdoors inside.” Adding a natural element like wood adds warmth, texture, and character into any space.
Plus, let’s not brush off the added benefit that being surrounded by wood elicits feelings of peace and even reduces stress and anxiety.
Wood is versatile.
It’s quick and easy to clean.
So, what’s not to like about this workspace aesthetic, especially if you’re looking for ideas on how to put together a classic and timeless installment in your space?
Let’s get started.

1. Add Warm Lighting and Plants
Taking inspiration from some of the most wood-tastic builds we’ve ever seen, let’s first introduce this wood-inspired build posted on r/battlestations.

What’s the first thing that draws your attention?
I bet it’s the Himalayan Lamp.
Which is why I love this wood-inspired desk setup so much because the Himalayan lamp upped the coziness game by keeping everything warm and cozy with its soft glow.
Not only that, I love how OP (Original Poster) purposely set the lamp in the corner to keep everything centered and cohesive.
The wood against the backdrop of a green screensaver? It reminds me of being inside a rainforest.
If you’re interested in where OP got this screensaver, I gotchu because this was actually one of the most asked questions on the thread. This is the rain meter, which is what OP used to get that rain effect on the screen.
2. Stand out with Wood on Black
You might not think it, but wood on black is a pretty popular desk aesthetic that was widely shared online. The dark complements the wooden tones perfectly to create a classic, retro look.

3. DIY Your Own Wooden Countertop
Desks are expensive.
That’s why I love going to IKEA. They’ve got some super affordable options, and you can easily repurpose a kitchen countertop into a classic and timeless piece.
Plus, their selection of floating shelves is not bad either.

4. Accessorize with Wooden Elements
I am a big proponent of making your space yours.
Adding personal artworks and showcasing items from your favorite hobbies or TV Shows like a book, train, or anime figurine collection really allows for you to add character into your space.

5. Put Up Wall Panels
Acoustic wall panels go hard in this post.
You know how interior designers repaint the inside of a room to refresh its look?
It’s the same thing here.
Add wooden panels into your space to really elevate and accent your walls. It’s an affordable and easy hack to achieve a high-end look.
Also, the light bulb is such a nice touch to really bring that industrial vibe into the space.

6. Add vines and greenery
Hanging plants on a pegboard and having them draped down like vines is a genius idea.
If you’re looking for an easy way to really liven up a space, adding greenery is the way to go.
But if you’re a plant killer like me, then get some artificial plants!

7. Honorable Mention
I added this here as an honorable mention to call attention to the use of a consistent wood type and styling. That said, here’s how to recreate the look with dupes from Amazon.
