Drawing inspiration from some of the most popular online communities like Reddit—r/desktops and r/battlestations just to name a few—Pinterest, and Tik Tok, I’m on a mission to put together the coziest white desk setup.
The twist? In $500 or less.
And it can’t look cheap either. Plus, it has to be affordable so others can easily replicate this build.

PC on a Budget – Mini PCs
But how do you put together a build if the PC costs half and often times, even more than the total build?
Well, unfortunately it’s going to be tough putting together a desk setup in under $500 if we build the PC from scratch. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but for the purpose of this post, that won’t be the main focus. Perhaps in a future blog post, I will put together a budget build for desk enthusiasts from scratch.
The intent here is that you already have a working PC.
But if you don’t have one, don’t fret because in recent years, mini pcs have been gaining more and more popularity. That said, check out these budget mini PCs that will work just fine if you’re a casual gamer who’s not looking to play any heavy-duty games or use major editing software like Adobe:
ACEMAGIC also offers other cheaper and more affordable options on its website, too.
Components of this Budget Desk Setup
Because this is a budget build, I can’t splurge on a lot of accessories but it contains the main components of a desk setup that you’ll be able to get a functional, working space.
With that squared away, here the main components of what will make up our white desk setup: desk, chair, monitor, keyboard, mouse, desk pad, storage space, and accessories.
I’ve scoured Reddit, Pinterest, Tik Tok, and most popular sites—you name it—to put together this budget desk setup. Continue reading for more info.
1. Gaming Chair vs. Office Chair—Which one is worth it?
Gamer chairs are a sham. You think you’re getting a good deal for your gaming needs but it’s not any different from a regular chair. In fact, getting a regular office chair for your work from home setup and using it as your gaming chair is perfectly a-okay! Office chairs are made to be ergonomic in nature, so they’re better suited for your body anyways. Gaming chairs are for aesthetics, so they don’t last as long—a novelty that you sometimes end up paying double to get the same comfort as an office chair.
Mimoglad Office Chair
For this budget build, I’m going with the Mimoglad Office Chair. Don’t skimp out on a good chair if you can afford one because it’ll save you from back and neck pain. Get this one if comfortable seating is a must have for you. It’s got mesh and assortment of really soft colors for that accented look in your space. Plus, get $40 with the Amazon coupon!
Here’s my other recommendations that didn’t make the final cut, but you can definitely mix and match to meet your needs.
Standing Desks
Standing desks are the way to go these days. It’s perfect for those moments when you need to move your body around and stretch your legs.
The SMUG Standing desk is a good and affordable option that not only looks nice, but comes with an added bonus: the ability to adjust the height of your desk. Plus, it doubles as an office and gaming desk.
Here’s some other options to consider, but they are a bit more pricey.
Computer Monitors
From the curve of the monitor to the bend of its stand, the monitor can make or break the look of any setup.
The most affordable option out there, this monitor boasts a modern design with 1080p screen resolution. On a 24-inch screen, it’s not a bad deal if you’re looking for something that gets the job done and can dual-use as a gaming and work monitor.
Here’s some other options if you’re willing to pay a little extra to get that crisp graphic and better response time.
Storage Space
For this budget desk build, our theme is centered around white. To keep it within the simple and minimalistic look, good storage space is a must.
The peg board and floating shelves are great options for creating a clutter-free space.
Here’s a link to the floating shelf I recommend:
Gaming Mouse
For the purpose of this build, I wanted to create a cohesive look by choosing a gaming mouse that centers around the “white” theme, but also brings some accented colors into play.
Too much white? Accented colors like this grey RGB gaming mouse will complement your space nicely for that cozy vibe.
Here’s some other recommendations:
Desk Pad
Desk pads are great if you want to save money because it doubles as your mouse pad. Plus, the large design brings everything together for that cohesive desk space.
Add an ageless look to your white space with this felt desk pad.
Here’s some other recommendations:
Keyboards
For this look, we’ll look at two popular keyboard options I saw on social media.
Need a small and compact companion because you have limited desk space? Then check out this affordable and chic Logitech keyboard.
Here is another recommendation:
Desk Accessories
It’s not really a personal space without some desk accessories, right? Here are some options I found that complements this simple and minimalistic white desk setup nicely.
Cheap and affordable. I added this because although personally I’m not a fan of acrylic desk accessories, this is a very popular choice on Tik Tok so I’m including it here.
Here are some other desk accessories that will complement your white desk setup really well:

Tips for Achieving a White Cozy Space
Here are some helpful tips for achieving that cozy white desk setup vibe:
- Look for accessories or other big items that are simple and minimalist to fit the vibe that you’re going for.
- Incorporate soft and warm lighting to create a cozy ambiance. The moon lamp like I mentioned above adds warmth to your workspace by giving off soft, warm LED lighting.
- Introduce textured accessories such as a fake fur rug or a knitted throw blanket to add depth and bring that extra coziness to any space. Natural elements like wood, rattan, or stone are also great options for balancing the whiteness of your space and décor.
- Need to liven the place? Plants and succulents are great options. They bring freshness and greenery to any space, which is why I added the 2-pack fake desk plants above.
- Display your personal items such as photographs, artwork, or anything that personalize your desk setup. These personal touches can create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
- Keep your space organized. Peg boards and floating shelves are great storage solutions to keep your workspace clutter-free and organized.
- Bring in natural elements like wood, rattan, or stone to bring a pop of color and texture to your space.
